DETAIL is a worldwide reference for architecture and structural design. Its online presence consists of three platforms: inspiration databank, news portal and online shop. They approached us to have the latter redesigned. An e-commerce remake, we thought at first sight.
Content is king (or queen), yes. So we joined all conceptual forces to create the perfect experience for the content provided by DETAIL. What better way to do so, than by bringing together their three online platforms? What began as an e-commerce redesign, is now coming to live as a unified digital experience.

Content is king (or queen), yes. So we joined all conceptual forces to create the perfect experience for the content provided by DETAIL. What better way to do so, than by bringing together their three online platforms? What began as an e-commerce redesign, is now coming to live as a unified digital experience.
How could an e-commerce redesign be used as opportunity to strengthen DETAIL’s digital brand presence? By thinking holistically to create a unified customer experience across all three platforms. Like sibling websites, you know? We’re bringing them together by enhancing coherent navigation systems, design aesthetics and an innovative tech stack.
Coming from a multi-system environment, we have rethought DETAIL’s architecture by deploying an innovative technology stack. How? By using VueStorefront Frontend connected to Magento for the APIs and transactions. And by connecting a Craft CMS to tackle the strongly content centric approach.
On a e-comms perspective, multiple languages and pricings per product that vary per region had to be tackled. Such challenge forced us to think not only outside our technical toolbox, but rather about the box itself. And so we came out with unprecedented solutions, though which complexity was achieved and speed remained.
Following DETAIL’s inspirational nature, we used blueprints, images and high-quality renders to communicate their architectural statements. With a web editorial style in mind, we approached the design stage as further development of DETAIL’s print publications. The result? Vast use of black and white contrasts. Clean and minimalistic iconography. And characterful typography, of course.
Our design system will allow us to scale up for a consistent cross-platform experience. It’s like playing with legos, where every page can be constructed and deconstructed on modular basis. Committed to enhancing usability across all platforms, we created a customised navigation system with three principles in mind: make all searching fast and effective, always show users what comes next and clearly differentiate product categories.
We value trust as one of the main pillars of collaboration. DETAIL has given us theirs and we’re thrilled to challenge ourselves (and them) on every upcoming step. Our aligned visions have lead to joint decision making all along. It’s a pleasure to walk side-by-side with DETAIL.
